BASF

Methods of extending our competences

Pursuing a dialogue with external partners is for us the central factor in achieving success with new technologies and business models.

We maintain a dialogue globally with partners and extend permanently our network of experts beyond the boundaries of BASF via different forms of cooperation.
Additionaly we cooperate with partners in public sponsored projects and develop new application areas.

In-house developments ? from the BASF Research Verbund

We utilize the expertise of our technology platforms at Ludwigshafen. This allows us to drive forward projects as rapidly as possible and to seed and extend expertise within the organization.

Publicly sponsored projects

Issues of social and economic importance are sponsored publicly at national or EU level. In these sponsorship programs we initiate cooperations with companies in various industries and jointly participate in creating new economic sectors.

Cooperations

Innovations are turned into success stories more rapidly through cooperation with partners and customers. This is why we often form partnerships with universities, institutes and companies in early project phases.

Venture Capital participations

Through the subsidiary company BASF Venture Capital GmbH, we participate in innovative, technology-driven start-up enterprises. On a basis of close cooperation, we support them in establishing their new business and familiarize ourselves with new technologies at an early stage.

Acquisitions ? long-term extension of our portfolio.

In promising projects we regularly evaluate acquisitions of innovative companies. With the acquisition of PEMEAS GmbH in December 2006, we strengthened our position as a supplier of materials for fuel cells in the long-term perspective.
